Look, I'm not gonna lie to ya...building your own rig doesn't require a 4 (is it 5 now?) year degree and internship experience but it does require painful trial and error. The first PC I built was a pcchips (do they still exist?) motherboard and some kind of Intel processor, I seriously researched the compatibility for days and finally just bought a combo so I didn't have to deal w/ installing the processor =)

RDRAM, sounded cool but when I got all my parts and fit everything together like they should fit together the mf'er wouldn't boot (turned out I didn't have the CRIMMS installed, haha). Now this is one of special moments in life you'll always remember along with your first day at school, high school graduation and other important momemnts like getting married? (just kidding honey =)). The moment when you "did everything right" but you are now staring at a lump of whatever you spent to save a few bucks to build it yourself.

This is not a sales pitch! In fact, we are actually pretty cool cats and think building your own rig at least once is a pretty gratifying experience.
